Pogapa
description
Pogapa is located stood
in the middle of mountains, All over the side of Pogapa are mountains. Then
there is a big river that flows down to Timika from Pogapa, and Pogapa is still
like a town, not so big or not so small, but it’s start to change. The weather
is not always the same. Sometimes it can change in weeks or even in
month.
Infrastructure
In Pogapa we could find
some stores but not too big. It is simple and the things they sell are too
expensive. Also, there are some schools, a military office that is not used, churches,
a police office, and some government offices. Their houses and building are made
from wood no bricks wall. The source of energy they used was solar panels
mostly for offices and houses except Honai. For honai, they use fire from wood.
They have a big airstrip also there are no roads.
The
people
The Moni people are
unique because there are moni people that are short but some are tall, a lot
of them have long hair, the Pogapa people are very muscled and they are hard
workers. For health, I think many of them are so sick and needing very serious
help. Most of the sicknesses are TBC, also cough, and so many other illnesses.
Daily
life
In their daily weekly
lives thing, they do differently. Men go to the jungle to find ropes and wood to
make fences to keep their gardens safe from animals such as pigs, but sometimes
they go to the jungle to hunt, but women have the biggest role in making gardens.
They go to the garden to planting, and also to weed in the garden. After doing
gardening, at the noontime, she will carry so much food to eat with her family.
But little kids stay home to take care of their little sister or brother some look
for wood branches for making fire at night.
Gospel
The Gospel came first in 1950 by missionary Mickelson.
Since the gospel came, people changed a lot from bad ways of living to Godly ways
of living. Now they are calm by the gospel of Yesus. Before they were fighting one
another and there was big war happened among two or more clans.
Marriage
There is no marriage
ceremony. They just got together. Usually, the men just took the woman to his
house. Then the woman’s family came and asked for payment such as a pig and money
for the woman. After paying that, the woman officially became his wife if the
payment was not complete then the woman’s family could take her back to their
village. The age of marriage is chosen by each of the mates. There was no limit
to marriage. If you felt enough to marry, you can.
Dead
when someone dies, they digging a hole and then
buried them it in. for the ceremony, they will hare a Bakar Batu.
Biographical
sketch
Location: Jubai
Milka was born in, Mpuse,
Enganenga, Pogapa. My life when I was little is a bad, time. When I was a kid,
people did not really believe in God they still believe in their own god. That
time no mercy love, and joy because there was no Gospel and Yesus in the middle
of us. They hate me and my mom because my dad was dead. When I was born, my
life was so much suffering I did not enjoy my teenage life.
I went to school but I
didn’t stay long I quit when I was in middle high school because there was no
money to pay for it. Now I am so thankful to god because as I received Him as
my savior I become his servant. I could know God and love came down in my life
Now I was no longer
married. Did you know the first time I was interested in my wife? I was
interested in my wife when we both were in school. She was a really good volley
player. She makes me love her at the first sight when she became the rock star
with her team.
And I think that’s the
way god is leading in my life!
