"There are three different things that cannot be put together when reading the Bible. Reading the bible, understanding the contents of the bible, and doing it are three things that are difficult to do, even for a believer"

Reading a bible

There are two ways to read the Bible; reading the bible like a novel or a textbook and reading the Bible as the word of God. a person can read the Bible like a novel but he does not get anything from reading it, because he sees the book as an ordinary book, not the word of God. Sometimes there are people who read the Bible and experience a big change in their life because they feel that it is the word of God and the Holy Spirit works through it to change their life.

Understanding the Bible

Understanding a bible is not the same as understanding a storybook or textbook, when reading the bible there are things that must be paid attention to so that we don't misinterpret the meaning of a chapter or verse. We must understand that the biblical writers were estimated at approximately 40 people in different times and places. when reading the bible we must understand the context of the writing at that time. we have to understand the cultural context at that time, how people dress, how people behave to one another, how people are guilty of the law and how their culture of manners is. But that is not enough to understand the Bible properly. We also have to be able to see the context of the writing of the book, to whom the writing was addressed, or what the actual meaning was in the writing of the original book because it is not certain that the context of the sentences used in English is the same as what it was used for is used in Hebrew and the one in Hebrew is in English.
The Bible cannot be understood and explained directly from what we read, we must first understand the context of writing and the historical context at that time (not now). making observations of the bible is also very good in helping us understand the contents of the bible by observing we can get to know the genre better whether it is history, a letter, law, prophecy, gospel, poetry, or prophecy.

Apply

Applying the Word in our lives is very difficult. If it were easy, surely everyone would have done it. Most of the people who read the Bible don't apply it in their lives. Why?
Because applying the Word means very hard work! Why is applying the Word so difficult? Here are 3 reasons why it is so hard

Application Requires Concentration. It takes concentration of thought and prayer before we can apply the words we are studying. Sometimes we don't immediately understand how to apply it. We think about it first, that is the time that people often don't want to sacrifice because they are lazy or busy.

Satan Opposes the Application of the Word. He fought it viciously. The devil's greatest attack will come when we are contemplating applying God's Word. the devil knows we are the threat, so he will do everything he can to bring us down and even make us forget God.

Human Nature Resists Change. The basic character of humans is that we do not like change. But change is at the heart of all of God's Word. God wants His Word to CHANGE lives. He wants to change us closer to the character of Christ and further away from our human character. the only way to salvation is to change our lives according to God's plan. We do not do what we want but rely entirely on God so that he is the source of our life.
